Freeride Surf School
At Freeride we believe that a good surf school is the easiest and fastest way to learn and/or improve your surfing. Our surf school will be able to offer sound advice on what surfboard you should be riding. We take into account your physical condition and make sure you have the appropriate surf gear and, show you the best surf spots for your abilities. We teach you the fundamentals about surf ethic, wind, tides, wave formation, etc.
The team of surf monitors from Freeride Surfcamp & School, lead by the professional surfer, João Mealha, will help you in your first steps toward the surfing experience. At our school, you will find dedicated surf monitors, certified by the F.P.S (Portuguese Surf Federation), with broad experience and profound knowledge of this coast.
Freeride’s high quality surf gear and teaching method puts its students in the proper program of the F.P.S. There’s an appropriate program for all ages and surf levels, providing an effective and safe learning environment. Surf classes will take place in the best surf spots of the southern and western shores depending on the wind and swell direction.
The Freeride Surfcamp & School is open to surfers of all levels and ages, including beginners. If you have never surfed before, this is the ideal way to start. Surfing is not an easy sport, it is important to learn the right concepts and techniques. We can save hours of frustration and help shorten your learning time. The advantages of the Freeride surf classes are obvious: a faster and safer progression, getting to know the surf etiquette (essential for the future surfer) and, a solid surf base that is elemental for a good performance in any sport.

Getting the Feeling
This is our beginner package, suited for everyone including children. Get the feeling of your first surf session, get to know the simpe tricks that will get you up and surfing in no time. Get to know basic rules, gear set ups and safety in the water. All brought to you by the best teachers that will make you feel like you were born to surf!
Enjoy the Ride
Enjoy the ride package is directed to those who have already tried surfing and are looking to improve they’re technique and gear set up. Our teachers will take in account that you have had previous surfing experiences and will be looking out to make your skills progress at an amazing rate. Give it a try and feel your surfing improve!
Welcome to the Club
This is training package, directed to those who are surfing already, either with short boards or longboards. You’ll get to talk and practice your surfing with some of the best surfers in the area and discover spots that suit your surfing. Here you will discuss techniques and ideal board set ups. Your surfing will grow and your technique will be refined. Try this package if you feel you have more to give into your surfing.
Freeriders
Freeriders is a mainly a surf spot discovery package. You will be driven to the ideal spots in this area, beach and point breaks. Your skills will be put to a test, but still, in very safe conditions. You will be accompanied by skilled and knowledgeable surfers, streamlining your surfing and making you push yourself. Give it a try and push yourself seriously!
