This year Freeride has a new location and established a Surf Center in the Hotel Memmo Baleeira. So, no more sleeping in bunk beds and sharing a bathroom with 8 more people, this time you’ll find a 4 star Surfcamp accommodation and the excellence of a professional surf school that you already know, to teach you how to surf, improve your level or, if you already surf, guide you into a “Wave Hunt” of the best surfing spots that can be found in the extreme southwest of the Algarve.
The Freeride Surf Center & Surfcamp, it’s based at the picturesque village of Sagres, its set at Hotel Memmo Baleeira, a 4 Star Hotel overlooking the Splendid Sagres harbour and the Martinhal Islands (10 min. walking distance from the centre of town). The Memmo Baleeira Hotel is unique in the Algarve.
Characterised by its relaxing, contemporary atmosphere of design, this 4 star Surfcamp Stay has everything you need for a weekend break from your daily routine or for a few days of a surf holiday retreat.
The resort’s 110 rooms, with views over the sea and over Baleeira harbour, provide you with all the comfort of the Memmo unforgettable bed and are fully equipped.
The hotel’s facilities include a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, swimming pool with magnificent ocean views and a modern SPA furnished with a sauna, Turkish bath, gym, heated indoor pool and massage parlours; meanwhile your children can enjoy themselves at our kids club. Besides from the Surf Lessons, the Hotel also have an outdoor activity club, where you can rent a bicycle to tour the region, arrange jeep trips and water sports –windsurfing or diving – or reserve a round at one of the nearby golf courses.
At the Surf Center you can also find technical surf material, surfboards, wetsuits, classifieds, etc.
On the Hotel Garden’s, apart from chilling on the swimming pool or at the cushions you can also enjoy a refreshing Cocktail while watching the fisherman boats arriving at the harbour. You can also use the Hotel SPA for massage, sauna or some gym activity. Before the nightfall, you can get down to the beach to either quietly watch the sunset, or to enjoy the region shellfish together with a good Portuguese wine at the harbour restaurant. If you more into action you can’t miss the late afternoon party’s, going on at the Tonel beach bar, just 20 minutes walking distance from the Hotel. Now, don’t be late for the dinner with the rest of the crew and keep some energy for the dancing at the “agua salgada” bar or at the disco. And be careful with the hangovers, because on the next morning a full day of surfing will be waiting for you!

Freeride Surf Camp offers comfort and atmosphere at affordable prices. Either you want to have surf lessons or just a place to crash after your day in the surf, Freeride Surf Camp is perfect for you. Located in the “Blue House” right in the main square of Sagres, this is a beautiful location overlooking the Mareta beach. Perfect to walk to the nightlife area just 3 minutes away.
